Sunday, 10 January 2010
Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina Saturday called for freeing the country from Polio by vaccinating every child of 0-59 months' age against the disabling disease, reports UNB.
She urged the people of all classes and professions to inform parents and guardians about the immunisation programme, and pursue them to vaccinate their children against Polio.
"Even if a child remains unattended, the whole programme will go in vain," the PM said while inaugurating the 18th National Immunisation Day (NID) 2010 and Measles Immunisation Campaign 2010 (February 14-28) at a simple ceremony at her official residence Jamuna in the morning.
She immunised some kids with Polio vaccine while formally opening the Immunisation Day to be observed today (Sunday) across the country.
