PM cancels New Zealand visit

Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina has cancelled her upcoming official visit to New Zealand, reports bdnews24.com.
Her visit, scheduled from March 11 to March 14, would have been the first ever by a head of government between the two countries.
A senior official at the foreign ministry said the prime minister cancelled the visit due to the current political situation.
New Zealand PM John Key, earlier, invited Hasina for a bilateral meeting and to watch the Bangladesh-New Zealand World Cup cricket match on Mar 13 at Hamilton.
New Zealand was one of the first of countries to recognise Bangladesh in early 1972. But the relations had never been nurtured.
Bangladesh imports milk and milk products from New Zealand, while New Zealand recently commissioned a ship built by a Bangladesh company.
