PM cautions on state of BD pilgrims, hotlines opened

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is now in New York to join the 70th United Nations General Assembly, expressed deep shock at the loss of lives and injuries in a stampede during the Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca on Thursday. She also wished early recovery of the injured and asked the authorities concerned to enquire about the Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims. Bangladesh mission in Saudi Arabia has opened hotlines. In a condolence message, the prime minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved families. Sheikh Hasina issued a directive to the Bangladesh Hajj Mission in Mecca, Bangladesh embassy in Saudi Arabia and the authorities concerned to enquire about the Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims. Over two million Muslims from around 150 countries in the world are performing the Holy Hajj this year, which includes more than 100,000 from Bangladesh.
