PM expresses firm solidarity with UAE, Oman amid conflict

Prime Minister (PM) Tarique Rahman has expressed Bangladesh's firm solidarity with the leadership and people of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman amid the ongoing conflict, report agencies.
He conveyed this message in a letter addressed to UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The PM also expressed deep concerns over the attacks, the loss of lives, injuries, and damage to property.
Foreign Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Humaiun Kobir, on Wednesday evening called on UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and handed over the personal letter from the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, addressed to the UAE President.
The foreign affairs adviser is currently undertaking a visit to several Gulf countries as the 'Special Envoy' of the Prime Minister to convey his messages to the leadership and to further reinforce Bangladesh's engagement with the region.
The PM also conveyed his sincere appreciation for the continued support extended by the UAE government in hosting a large number of Bangladeshi expatriates and for the measures taken to ensure their safety and well-being.
Besides, Humaiun Kobir met with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi in Muscat and handed over a personal letter from the PM, addressed to the Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq.
The PM's message to the Sultan emphasised Bangladesh's commitment to standing by Oman during the regional crisis.
Humaiun lauded Oman's constructive role in mediating between Iran and the US and its efforts to promote peace through diplomacy.
The foreign ministry said ensuring the safety and welfare of the millions of Bangladeshis living in the Middle East remains the government's topmost priority as it calls for a resolution through dialogue.
Meanwhile, Meanwhile, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed on Thursday thanked the government of Kuwait for ensuring the safety and security of the around 0.3 million Bangladeshi expatriates in Kuwait, reiterating Bangladesh's stance of non-interference and peaceful diplomatic solution of conflicts.
Ambassador of Kuwait to Bangladesh Ali Thunayun Abdulwahab Hamadah paid a courtesy call on Shama Obaed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and discussed issues of mutual interest.
The meeting reaffirmed the longstanding friendship and growing strategic partnership between Bangladesh and Kuwait, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
