PM for hosting sports in all edn institutions

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday urged for hosting sports activities in all educational institutions of the country on a larger scale for sound physical and mental growth of the students as well as creating world standard sportsmen. She expressed her firm optimism that world standard sportspersons would be created through expediting the sports activities in the country’s educational institutions at grassroots level. The Prime Minister said this while addressing the closing ceremony of the 43rd National Summer Sports Competition of the secondary and higher secondary schools at Bangabandhu Stadium in the morning. Department of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education organised the competition. The Prime Minister said such competitions would help groom up brilliant sportspersons who would create world record and brighten the country’s image one day. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid also spoke on the occasion while Deputy Minister for Sports Arif Khan and senior officials of the ministry were present. Noted singer Samina Chowdhury by performing the theme song of the event enthralled the galleries attended by huge number of school and college students braving showery rain since morning, according to a news agency.
