PM for restoring navigability of all rivers thru\\\' dredging

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday put emphasis on keeping operative all the rivers of Bangladesh, especially six rivers around Dhaka city, by restoring their navigability through dredging. ‘It would help develop the country’s communication system and transportation of goods smoothly. Besides, tourist spots would be built on the banks of the rivers through their beautification,’ the Prime Minister expressed the views when a delegation of the Institute of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB), called on her at her office to submit their recommendations titled ‘Steps to Keep Rivers Around Dhaka City Including Buriganga Pollution-Free and Increase Flow’. IDEB President AKMA Hamid led the team. The Prime Minister said the aim of her government is to further improve the country’s communication system by saving the rivers and environment. She also stressed the need for taking realistic plans and implementing those by the IDEB to develop the communication system through protecting rivers, according to BSS.
