PM for setting up cardiology departments at govt hospitals

Monday, 17 August 2009

Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina Sunday directed for setting up cardiology departments at all government hospitals with surgical facilities to provide proper treatment for cardiac patients, reports BSS.
The cardiology departments should have special units for children, she stressed.
The directive came when a delegation of newly elected executives of Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS) paid a courtesy call on her at her official residence Jamuna in the city, said Prime Minister's Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad after the meeting.
Emphasising that all medical colleges should be affiliated to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), the Prime Minister said this will help ensure proper academic activities of the medical colleges and reduce pressure on Dhaka University.
She said modern and sophisticated training should be imparted to the physicians aimed at meeting growing demand of Bangladeshi physicians both at home and abroad.
Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh can export skilled physicians abroad.
