PM goes to Gopalganj today
Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina goes to Gopalganj today (Saturday) on a day's visit, reports BSS.
Prime Minister's Office (PMO) sources said the PM will first go to Tungipara by a helicopter and lay the foundation stone of Tungipara Upazila Parishad Building in the morning.
She will later place wreaths at the grave of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and offer fateha and munajat there.
The PM is scheduled to distribute scholarships among the meritorious students who obtained GPA-5 in HSC and SSC examinations in 2011 and inaugurate the silver jubilee function of Government Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University College and reunion of its former students at Bangabandhu Mazar Complex.
She will later hand over a cheque to ailing journalist and veteran politician Nirmal Sen, the sources said.
Later, Sheikh Hasina will leave for Gopalganj Sadar Upazila by road and lay the foundation stone of Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Eye Hospital and a vocational training centre at Ghonapara Morh.
The PM will open a 100-megawatt power plant adjacent to Haridaspur Bridge and lay the foundation stone of Sheikh Sayera Khatun Medical College and Hospital at Gopalganj Sadar Hospital.
Before returning to the capital, Sheikh Hasina will address a public meeting to be organised by Gopalganj District Awami League at Sheikh Kamal Stadium in the afternoon.
