PM hands over trophies to Tigers

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Monday handed over Bashundhara Cement Test and One-Day Series trophies to Bangladesh national cricket team for whitewashing visiting Zimbabwe in both versions of the game. She handed over the two trophies to the skippers of Bangladesh Test Team and Bangladesh ODI Team after the fifth ODI match at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the evening. Bangladesh won the Bashundhara Cement Test Series Trophy whitewashing Zimbabwe 3-0 in the test series. The Tigers whitewashed the visitors in the five-match ODI series 5-0, too. Sheikh Hasina first handed over Bashundhara Cement Test Series Trophy to the captain of the test team Mushfiqur Rahim. She later gave Bashundhara Cement ODI Series Trophy to skipper of Bangladesh One-Day Team Mashrafee-bin-Mortuza. Hasina handed over Player of the Test Series Trophy to Mushfiqur Rahim and Player of the Match of the fifth ODI to debutant Taizul Islam. Later, a beaming Hasina joined a photo session with the Bangladesh teams of both longer and shorter versions. She also had photographs with the Zimbabwe team.
Earlier, the Prime Minister witnessed the Bangladesh innings of the fifth ODI in which the Tigers defeated Zimbabwe by five wickets. She witnessed the Bangladesh innings from the VVIP Lounge of Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium along with Sate Minister for Youth and Sports Advocate Biren Sikdar and Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hasan Papon.
During her about one hour stay in the lounge, Sheikh Hasina, also a cricket fan, was seen inspiring the Bangladesh team by clapping, according to a news agency.
