PM hosts Iftar for professionals

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday hosted an Iftar party in honour of the leaders of various professional organisations at her official residence Ganobhaban on Saturday, reports UNB.
Those who attended the Iftar party included vice-chancellors and teachers of different public and private universities, editors and journalists of different newspapers, news agencies and electronic media, physicians, engineers, lawyers, businessmen, intellectuals, poets, writers, singers and sports personalities.
The prime minister went round different tables set for the guests, exchanged pleasantries and enquired about their wellbeing.
Before the Iftar, a munajat (prayer) was offered seeking the continued peace, progress and prosperity of the nation.
Prayers were also offered seeking the eternal peace of the departed souls of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other martyrs of the August 15 carnage, and the martyrs of the Liberation War as well as long life and good health of the prime minister.
Professor Jamilur Reza Chowdhury, Professor Emeritus Dr Rafiqul Islam, Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Janakantha Advisory Editor Toab Khan, Justice Mezbahuddin, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam, Professor Dr Syed Modasser Ali, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, Bangladesh Football Federation President Kazi Salahuddin, FBCCI President Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, Dr Ruhal Haque, MP, Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin and Agriculturist Amirul Islam were, among others, present on the dais with the prime minister.
Leaders of different professional bodies, including Peshajibi Samannaya Parishad, Bangladesh Medical Association, Krishibid Institution-Bangladesh, Institution of Engineers-Bangladesh, Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), Jatiya Press Club, Awami Bangabandhu Ainjibi Parishad, FBCCI, BGMEA and Sectors Commanders' Forum were also present at the Iftar party.
