PM inaugurats Nazrul Mausoleum

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Thursday inaugurated the newly constructed National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam Mausoleum (Nazrul Complex) at the Dhaka University premises.
She opened the Nazrul Complex erected at the tomb of the poet close the DU central mosque at 7:00am.
The prime minister also placed wreaths at the poet's grave on the occasion of the poet's 33rd death anniversary.
Foreign Minister Dipu Moni, DU Vice Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique, pro-VC Harunur Rashid, Information Minister Abul Kalam Azad, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, DU Treasurer Mizanur Rahman, Proctor Saiful Islam Khan and the poet's granddaughter Khilkhil Kazi, among others, were present.
The complex, designed by engineer Majharul Islam, was constructed at a cost of about Tk 15.2 million.
Meanwhile, DU students, teachers and employees led by VC Prof Siddique also placed wreaths and offered fateha at his mausoleum.
Opposition BNP leader Khandaker Delwar Hossain visited the poet's grave and laid wreaths.
Communist Party of Bangladesh, JSD, Workers Party of Bangladesh, Left Democratic Alliance and Jatiya Party also paid tributes.
Bangla Academy, Shilpakala Academy and Nazrul Institute and other cultural organisations also offered wreaths at the grave.
To mark the death anniversary of the national poet, the DU authorities have taken an elaborate programmes.
The poet died in Dhaka on August 29, 1976 at the age of 77.
