PM mourns death of Baby Moudud

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday expressed her deep shock at the death of eminent journalist, writer and former lawmaker AN Mahfuza Khatun Baby Moudud. In a condolence message, the Prime Minister recalled her invaluable contribution to journalism and politics. ‘The nation has lost a dedicated journalist and writer in her death,’ she said. Describing Baby Moudud as her true well-wisher, Sheikh Hasina said: ‘I have lost one of my long- time beloved friends in her death.’ The Prime Minister also remembered with gratitude the role of Baby Moudud in editing the book "Asamapta Atmajibonee" (Unfinished Memoir) authored by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Sheikh Hasina prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family. Baby Moudud, who had been suffering from cancer, breathed her last at United Hospital in the city at about 3:00pm today. She was 66. She left behind two sons and a host of relatives, firends and well-wishers to mourn her death, according to BSS.
