PM pays homage to Bangabandhu in Tungipara

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday placed wreaths at the mazar of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, marking the National Mourning Day, in Tungipara in Gopalganj district. After laying wreaths at the mazar, the Prime Minister stood there in solemn silence for some time as a mark of respect to the memory of the great leader. The chiefs of the three services presented salute to the architect of independent Bangladesh on the occasion. A smartly turned out contingent drawn from Bangladesh Armed Forces gave an honour guard, while bugle played the last post. A special prayer was offered seeking the eternal peace of Bangabandhu, his wife Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib and others who were brutally killed on August 15, 1975. Prayers were also offered seeking continued peace, progress and prosperity for the country and its people. Later, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and leaders and workers of the Awami League joined a milad mahfil held on the mazar premises, according to UNB.
