PM pays homage to Bangabandhu on AL\\\'s 65th founding anniv

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday paid rich tributes to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a wreath at his portrait in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in the city on the occasion of the 65th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Awami League. After laying the wreath, the Prime Minister stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of respect to the memory of Bangabandhu on Dhanmondi Road No 32. Flanked by senior and central leaders of the party, Sheikh Hasina, also the president of Awami League, placed another wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu on behalf of her party. AL Advisory Council members Tofail Ahmed and Advocate Yusuf Hossain Humayun, AL Presidium members Begum Matia Chowdhury, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Abdul Latif Siddiqui and Advocate Sahara Khatun, General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam, Joint Secretary Dr Dipu Moni, Publicity and Publications Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud and other central leaders of the party were present on the occasion. Later, Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the 65th founding anniversary programmes of the AL by hoisting national flag as well as releasing pigeons and balloons, while party general secretary Syed Ashraful raised the party flag. The national anthem was sung on the occasion, according to BSS.
