PM returns home from London

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina returned home on Thursday morning from London after winding up her 3-day official visit to the United Kingdom (UK) to attend the 1st-ever Girl Summit. The Bangladesh Premier visited the UK at the invitation of her British counterpart David Cameron and UNICEF Executive Director Anthony Lake. She led a 20-member high-powered Bangladesh delegation at the Girl Summit, 2014, held in the British capital on Tuesday. A VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the Prime Minister and members of her entourage landed at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport in Dhaka around 9:17am. The Prime Minister attended the high-level session of the summit and interacted with First Lady of Burkina Faso, Chantal Compaore, and Pakistan's famous education activist Malala Yousafzai at Walworth Academy. During the visit, Sheikh Hasina held talks with British Prime Minister Cameron at 10 Downing Street and discussed issues relating to bilateral and multilateral interests. Besides, leaders of the All Party British Parliamentary Group, UK Minister of State for International Development Desmond Swayne, UNICEF Executive Director Anthony Lake, Shadow Foreign Secretary of the UK Douglas Alexander, and Chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee of British House of Commons Keith Vaz called on the Bangladesh Primier at her hotel suite. Renowned journalist Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury as well as a number of leading Bangladeshi journalists working in the UK met the Prime Minister at her hotel suite. The Prime Minister also took part in interviews with BBC World Radio and BBC Bangla Service, according to BSS.
