Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday sought Norwegian investment in Bangladesh’s information and communication technology (ICT) sector. The PM came up with the request when she met her Norwegian counterpart Erna Solberg on the sideline of 69th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) being held in New York. After the meeting, held in the Bilateral Room at the UN headquarters, PM’s Media Advisor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury briefed reporters. He said the two leaders discussed issues related to the interests of the two friendly countries. Norway’s premier highly appreciated Bangladesh’s tremendous development in the ICT sector, especially digitisation in various fields, under the initiative of PM Sheikh Hasina. In this connection, Hasina invited the Norwegian PM to visit Bangladesh to see the development in this sector. The Norwegian premier also lauded Bangladesh’s progress in women empowerment, according to a news agency.
