Replying to a question from Independent member Fazlul Azim, the Prime Minister said the government has taken a plan to
produce 900 MW power by June 2012 and 1,895 MW power by June, 2014.

Sheikh Hasina said the Request for Proposal (RFP) has also been called for constructing 530 MW power plants by the public sector. These power plants are likely to go for operation by August, 2010. In addition, process is going on for constructing Rental Power Plant to produce 970 MW power.
She said the government would conduct a feasibility study soon for constructing coal-based power plants in Chittagong, Khulna, Shariyatpur, Jajira and Meghnaghat with a capacity of producing 2000-2600 MW power. Besides, plan has been taken for generation of 200 MW power from wind power and 60-80 MW solar power by 2013, she said.
