PM shocked at death of FF Zahirul Islam

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday expressed profound shock at the death of eminent freedom fighter and commander of Canada Command Council of Muktijoddha Sangsad Dr Zahirul Islam. In a condolence message, the Prime Minister said the country has lost one of its brightest sons at the death of this valiant freedom fighter who joined the Liberation War under Sector 2. In the 90s, Hasina said, this agriculture scientist had upheld the great Liberation War spirit before the young generation with his continued write-ups in the daily Janakantha under a title 'Ekatturer Guerrilla (Guerrilla of 71)'. "The country and the nation will ever remember this patriot and freedom fighter with great respect," she added. The Prime Minister prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed deep sympathy for his bereaved family, according to a news agency.
