PM to open 22nd biennial confce of BEA today

The two-day 22nd biennial conference of the Bangladesh Economic Association (BEA) will start in the city today (Friday). Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the event as the chief guest.
President of the BEA, Professor Dr. Abul Barkat, disclosed this information during a press briefing held at the association's office in the capital on Thursday.
Dr. Jamaluddin Ahmed FCA, the convenor of the conference preparatory committee, and Professor Dr Md. Aynul Islam, general secretary of the BEA, were also present at the briefing.
Dr. Barkat highlighted the historical journey of the association, which commenced in 1974 under the auspices of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. This year marks 50 years of its establishment in independent Bangladesh.
A diverse array of papers, encompassing analyses of Bangladesh's economy and development, will be presented across nine thematic sessions during the two-day conference.
The theme of the conference is "Changing World Economy and Bangladesh."
The programme will take place at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh.
Dr. Abul Barkat will preside over the inaugural session of the conference on Friday while Dr. Jamaluddin Ahmed will deliver welcome address.
