PM, UK, Japan mourn Padma launch tragedy

Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina expressed Tuesday deep shock at the loss of lives in Monday's tragic launch capsize in the Lauhoganj channel in the Padma river, reports UNB.
In a condolence message, she prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Acting British High Commissioner in Dhaka Nick Low in a message expressed his condolence at the death of many people in launch capsize in the Padma river, reports bdnews24.com.
"I was shocked and saddened by Monday's tragic incident on the Padma, in which so many people have lost their lives," he said.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their loved ones at this time of sorrow," read the statement.
Japanese Ambassador in Bangladesh Shiro Sadoshima expressed Tuesday profound sorrow for the victims of the launch capsize in the Padma river near Mawa ferry ghat Monday, reports UNB.
"On behalf of the government of Japan and the people of Japan, I would like to express my deepest condolence to the victims and the bereaved families," he said in a condolence message.
The Japanese envoy expressed the hope that the ongoing rescue efforts would trace as many missing people as possible.
