PM urged to stop commercial use of Dhanmondi playground

A forum of city dwellers urged the Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina to stop any commercial use of Dhanmondi playground so that it remains open to all, reports UNB.
They made the appeal while speaking at a press conference organised by Dhanmondi Playground Protection Movement at the National Press Club in the city Saturday.
They observed that PM should intervene to save the playground and keep faith in the citizens about the positive activities of the government in saving the environment.
Bishwa Sahitya Kendro founder Prof Abdullah Abu Sayeed said attempts are on to destroy the playground by using the name of Bangabandhu's family.
He asked whether using the name of Sheikh Jamal to grab the playground will do anything good for Jamal's fame. "Some dishonest people are using this name to have their evil plot fulfilled," Prof Sayeed said.
Speaking on the occasion, Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA) joint secretary Iqbal Habib said the citizens will not give up their movement until the Dhanmondi playground is freed from illegal occupation.
