Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina wonders whether the killing of people in arson attacks during the BNP-sponsored blockade pains Khaleda Zia.
Reaffirming her government's firm stance not to allow anyone to make Bangladesh a den of militants and terrorists, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged Tuesday all, including the pro-liberation and progressive forces, to get united against criminal and destructive activities unleashed by the BNP-Jamaat alliance, report agencies.
"I urge all conscious people of the country, especially those who believe in the country's independence, to be united against criminalisation. I also call on them to at least tell Khaleda Zia to stop killing people and doing politics with dead bodies," the PM made the appeal while addressing the discussion on "BNP-Jamat's Arson Violence-Blood Stained Bangladesh" at the National Museum in the city with Publication Sub-Committee chairman and PM's political adviser HT Imam in the chair.
Central Publicity and Publication Sub-Committee of Awami League (AL) organised the programme to display the recent destructive activities of the BNP-Jamaat-led 20-party alliance in the name of countrywide nonstop blockade since January 6 and hartals with weekly intervals.
AL General Secretary and LGRD Minister Syed Ashraful Islam and Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud also spoke at the function, conducted by AL Cultural Affairs Secretary and Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor.
Diplomats from Russia, India, Palestine, Afghanistan, North Korea, Bhutan, Libya, Sri Lanka, Vatican, China, Oman, the Maldives, Iraq, the UAE, Singapore, Pakistan, the European Union and International Red Cross were present on the occasion.
A documentary, titled 'BNP-Jamaat's Arson Violence-Blood Stained Bangladesh' was screened at the programme.
Sheikh Hasina broke down into tears at the programme watching the documentary and listening to the pathetic stories of a number of burnt and affected people in ferocious attacks of the BNP-Jamaat clique.
The PM said what the BNP-Jamaat is doing now is just militant and terrorist acts, and there would be no place for militants and terrorists in Bangladesh.
She also reiterated her government's firm commitment to save the lives and property of the common people. "The government will surely do whatever needs to be done to protect the lives and property of people."
She asked the BNP chief to stop killing and the politics of corpses. "For whose interest you (Khaleda) are doing this, how many dead bodies you want, and where you will stop this!"
The PM criticised those who always put her and BNP chief Khaleda Zia in the same scale and compare both. "I'll request you, please do not put me with her in same scale, do not compare me with a killer, this is very much painful for me," she said.
#Sheikh Hasina said she does not have anything to make personal gain and she already proved it in the past.
