PM urges people to plant more fruit trees

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Sunday called upon the people to plant more fruit trees.
In a message, on the eve of the 'Fruit Tree Plantation Fortnight and National Fruit Exhibition', she wished success of the annual event from June 16 to 30, reports BSS.
The prime minister said the importance of fruit trees is immense for meeting the demand for food and nutrition, poverty alleviation, preventing natural calamities and enhancing scenic beauty. The land and climate of Bangladesh are suitable for fruit cultivation, she said.
The country has more than 130 species of fruit trees from where the daily requirements for nutrition could be met easily, she added.
