PM urges rich nations to spend more on health, edn

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday urged the developed nations to stop spending on weapons of mass destruction and instead invest the money in health and education to make a peaceful world. She made the call when the visiting Director General of the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) Professor Folf-Dieter Heur called on her at her official residence Ganobhaban. PM's special assistant Mahbubul Hoque Shakil briefed the reporters after the meeting. Shail said that the Prime Minister told Folf-Dieter that her government has taken steps to promote science education. The prime minister also sought the cooperation of the CERN to train science teachers of Bangladesh, according to a news agency.
