Five trade-related MoUs to be signed

Five memorandums of understanding (MoUs) regarding trade and investment are likely to be signed during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to Singapore from March 11 to 14.
The Prime Minister, who is going to Singapore at the invitation of her Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong, will be accompanied by a high-level business delegation.
She will address a roundtable to be organised by the Bangladesh-Singapore Business Forum as the chief guest, Foreign Minister A H Mahmood Ali told a media briefing held at the foreign  office in the capital on Wednesday.
Of the five trade-related MoUs, one will be on investment cooperation, one will be on public-private partnership (PPP), and one on expansion of air travel services.
Besides, the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka (MCCI) will sign separate MoUs with the Singapore Manufacturing Federation, the foreign minister, who will also accompany the PM, told the briefing.
Apart from these, a MoU on cooperation in digital services and information technology sector is expected to be inked during the visit.
During the visit, Sheikh Hasina will lead Bangladesh delegation in the bilateral meeting between the two countries. She will also have separate meetings with the Singaporean PM and Halimah Yacob, the first women elected as the president of the island country.
Mr Mahmood said in the context of the current Rohingya crisis, the PM's visit to Singapore, which is a key member of the ASEAN, will be an important one.
The PM will visit the Singapore Botanical Garden, where an orchid will be named after her. She will attend a lunch to be hosted by her Singaporean counterpart on March 12, and will also visit the Singapore Port before her departure for home on March 14, he added.
