PM vows to turn BD mid-income country by 2021

Attributing the increase in the GDP and the per capita income to sincere efforts of all in their respective fields, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed her firm resolve to turn Bangladesh into a prosperous mid-income country by 2021. Despite various obstacles, the country’s ADP implementation rate is satisfactory while it has been able to increase its per capita income to 1,190-dollar and the GDP which is growing by 6.12pc this fiscal, the PM said while addressing the officials of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock as well as its subordinate bodies at the Secretariat on Thursday. Thanking the concerned officials and employees for the achievements, Hasina said Bangladesh would stand on its own feet holding its head high in the global arena without begging from others. Happy with 6.12pc GDP growth the Prime Minister said ‘GDP growth rate of 6.12 per cent in the current fiscal as well as rise in the per capita income to $1,190’ are the results of sincere efforts of all in their respective fields.’ Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammad Sayedul Haque and acting Secretary of the Ministry Dr Selina Afroza were, among others, present, according to UNB.
