PM's Adviser visits PRDP in Comilla

The Link Model under Participatory Rural Development Project (PRDP-II) is the most appropriate model for rural development of Bangladesh and the government should adopt and spread the model throughout the country, said Prof. Dr. Alauddin Ahmed, Advisor to the Prime Minister while observing the Union Coordination Committee Meeting (UCCM) of the Link Model at Jagatpur Union, Titas Upazila, Comilla, said a press release.
The Advisor along with Dr. Takao Toda, Chief Representative of JICA Bangladesh Office, visited Titas Upazila, Comilla on Wednesday to see the activities of PRDP-II having implemented with JICA assistance. Titas Upazila is one of the examples, where the Link Model of Rural Development has been successful to increase linkage between UP, NBDs.
Participants at the UCCM discussed common interests of villages and sought services from the NBDs. The Advisor learnt about implementation of some micro-infrastructure schemes such as para-roads, culvert being implemented by the village committees with the approval of UCCM.
The Government decided to introduce UCCM in 200 Union Parishads and it may be introduced to all Union Parishads of the country if approved by the government.
