PM\\\'s China visit: a good initiative
Tuesday, 10 June 2014
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's ongoing visit to China is very significant from the perspective of both the countries. The visit is taking place at a very important time and we hope it will help further strengthen amity between Bangladesh and China. The diplomatic relations between China and Bangladesh were established in 1976 and since then both the countries have been working together for betterment of their ties.
At present, Bangladesh has a large trade deficit with China and it is hoped that the PM's tour will reduce this gap significantly. China is one of the most important development partners of our country and many big development infrastructures in Bangladesh have been built with China's assistance.
China is one of economic powers in the world and its rise can offer many precious lessons to those countries which are struggling to come out of poverty. We have much to learn from China as its economic progress is stunning. Bangladesh and China both need to promote their respective cultures and languages and increase people-to-people contact. Visa procedure needs to be easy for both the countries so that communication becomes a lot easier. It is our expectation that the trip of the PM will open new doors of opportunity in China-Bangladesh relations.
