CHITTAGONG, Jan 15: Chittagong city mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury said here that the prime minister's visit has opened up an opportunity for cooperation with India.
"The PM through her visit to India and signing deals with her counterpart has protected the interest of Bangladesh. Our country has gained much from the three agreements and two memorandums signed with India," he said.
He said this to a spontaneous audience before launching a cheer march from Laldighi moidan organised by Chittagong city Awami League Thursday evening.
The mayor said, common stand of both the countries to overpower the
religious terrors and militants will create an environment of peace in this
region.
Cautioning the critics of Sheikh Hasina's visit to India and the agreements signed between the two countries he said, they will destroy themselves in the treacherous distraction which they have made.
"Their ill design is to keep the country dependent on others, retard the
growth of the country and drag the country's wheel backward," Mohiuddin Chowdhury said.
