Saturday, 30 June 2007

Environmental group, Poribesh Bachao Andolan (PoBA), Friday put forward a nine-point proposal for a short-term solution to Dhaka's water logging problems, reports bdnews24.
The PoBA press conference at the National Press Club focused on several critical issues such as reclaiming Dhaka's endangered canal network, a planned approach to road digging and improving the city's drainage system.
The formation of national level committees incorporating a range of professional organisations was also proposed.
PoBA spokesperson engineer Sheikh Muhammad Shahidullah stressed the importance of proper water management from the household level to the agricultural, industrial and water transportation sector level.
