Poet Abul Hussain's death anniv

The fifth anniversary of death of Poet Abul Hussain, a pioneer of modernism in Bengali poetry, will be observed today (Saturday), said a press release.
The poet died on June 29, 2014 at the age of 92.
Abul Hussain is an eminent poet who is recognised as the first modern Bengali poet in Bangladesh. He is the leading exponent of modernism in Bangladeshi poetry.
He expresses in his verse a cynical and anguished mood that reflects his life-long search for a philosophical and religious position from which to analyse and comprehend the individual life in relation to society; the political instability and economic uncertainties in his country. He is a writer of 25 books.
The poet left behind two sons and two daughters -- Selim R.F. Hussain (Managing Director & CEO of BRAC Bank Ltd); Sohail R.K. Hussain (former Managing Director & CEO of The City Bank Ltd); Farah Imrana Hussain and Naz Akther Samina Hussain.
