Police arrest bullet-hit \\\'mugger\\\' in Pallabi

An alleged mugger sustained bullet injury in firing by police in the city’s Pallabi area on Friday morning. Police arrested injured is Javed, alias Khella Javed, alias Karmi Javed, 25, belonging to a gang of muggers in the area. Sub-inspector Jahid of Pallabi Police Station said they had information that a gang of muggers had been committing mugging in Ceramic Road in Mirpur-12 early in the morning frequently in recent times. Accordingly, several teams of Pallabi thana remained on petrol in the area in the morning regularly. Three police teams were patrolling Ceramic Road on foot at about 6:00 am. “Suddenly, a gang of muggers swooped on us by mistake, taking police for pedestrians due to the obscure visibility in foggy weather. When they came very close, they found it to be police and charged several crude bombs,” SI Jahid said. Police fired several shots that wounded Javed while his associates managed to escape. Javed was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Two unexploded crude bombs and two sharp weapons were recovered from the scene, according to UNB.
