Police arrest five after attack on CU students

CHATTOGRAM, Oct 22: Police on Tuesday arrested five people in connection with a case filed over assaulting a group of students and vandalism near the Chittagong University (CU) railway station.
The suspects, allegedly led by local Jubo League (JL) leader Hanif and his brother Iqbal, vandalised a number of properties during the attack on Monday.
The arrested have been identified as Ilias Farooq (40), Suman (29), Istiaq Ahmed (22), Rashed (30), and Abu Taher (55). All are residents of Hathajari, Chattogram.
The case was filed under the Speedy Trial Act against 25 to 30 unidentified individuals at Hathazari Police Station in this connection on Monday.
The law-enforcers said investigation into the incident led to the swift arrests.
