Wednesday, 7 July 2010

Home Minister Sahara Khatun has ordered the police to arrest the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists who were involved in Monday's violence at Jahangirnagar University (JU) that left about 50 people wounded, four with bullet injuries.
"Shibir, BNP elements intruded into BCL…I will not spare them and I have asked police to arrest the troublemakers," the minister told reporters at her ministry office Tuesday, reports UNB.
Two rival groups of BCL unit of the university engaged in a series of clashes Monday for establishing supremacy on the campus. Vice-chancellor and Assistant Proctor who rushed to the scene were also assaulted.
Later at night 17 student activists involved in the clashes were temporarily expelled and a committee was formed to probe into the incident.
