Sunday, 28 December 2014
Tejgaon Industrial Police Sunday evening attempted to "search" the office of the daily New Age in the city without having any search warrant, but retreated in the face of resistance by the office staff, said journalists of the national daily. Some 15 to 20 policemen led by Salauddin, officer-in-charge of the police station, tried to enter the office in Tejgaon area of Dhaka around 8:30pm, said Farid Ahmed, chief news editor of the English daily. As the policemen reached the reception on the ground floor, some of our colleagues came out and asked about the reason of their appearance. The OC misbehaved and got into an altercation with the journalists as they wanted to know whether he had any search warrant, according to New Age sources.
