Police demolish illegal structures at Pallabi
Friday, 15 February 2008
Police Thursday demolished illegal structures on 465 plots on 86 acres of land at the Ainuddin and Raizunnesa Bibi Wakf Estate at Doarapara in the city's Pallabi area, following a Supreme Court order. Police said, some 600 law-enforcers, led by magistrate Azharul Islam, began the eviction drive against the illegal occupiers at about 9am. The drive affected some 50,000 people. A case was pending in the court following dispute over ownership of the plots between the National Housing Authority (NHA) and the wakf estate. — UNB
