Police fail to rescue boy 7 months after his abduction in Pabna

PABNA, Mar 4: Though seven months have elapsed after his abduction, five- year- old boy Roni Sarkar is yet to be rescued. Family members of the victim at a press conference on Tuesday last criticised the role of police for their failure to rescue Roni.
Rony Sarkar, 5, son of Abdul Awal Sarkar of village Kamalpur Dahpara in Chatmohar upazila under the district was abducted on July 17 last year.
A case was filed accusing 6 people in connection with the abduction on July 28, last year.
The accused Md. Tarekul Sarkar Tarek, 20, Mahabub Hossain Mollah, 21, Abdul Mannan, 52, Taslima Khatun, 45, Md. Biplob Sarkar, 21 and Md. Rafikul Islam, 40 all are the relatives of Rony. The accused also demanded Tk 0.5 million (5 lakh) as ransom from Rony's father.
"Tarek, one my relatives abducted my child from the house on July 17 last year and later handed him over to Abdul Mannan, another relative," victim's father Abdul Awal Sarkar told journalists at a press conference held at the Pabna Press Club on Tuesday noon organised by Bangladesh Manobadhikar Commission (BMC), Chatmohar upazila unit in the district.
When contacted, sub- inspector Md Abdul Latif said a charge sheet was submitted to court on January 21 this year accusing 6 people. Of them, three are still at large. Police failed to rescue the victim as he was not traced out during the investigation, Latif also the investigation officer of the case said.
