Police foils JCD demonstration

Police foiled a demonstration of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dol (JCD), student wing of the BNP, at the city's Muktangon Wednesday afternoon, reports UNB.
The JCD announced it would hold a rally at Muktangon on August 1 protesting against the police action.
According to eyewitnesses and JCD activists, police charged batons on the JCD activists and dispersed them while they were assembling at the Muktangon at about 4pm.
After the police action, JCD leaders and activists immediately organised a rally in front of BNP's Nayapaltan central office and held a press briefing.
At the press briefing, JCD General Secretary Amirul Islam Alim declared the August 1 protest rally.
