Police informant killed in Teknaf

A ‘police informant’ was shot and stabbed to death by some miscreants on the Teknaf upazila parishad premises in Cox’s Bazar district early Friday. The deceased was identified as Selim alias Mundi Selim, son of Abdullah, a Myanmar citizen. He used to live in Teknaf upazila for long. Local people said a group of 5/6 armed miscreants swooped on Selim around 12:30 am. Later they fired shots at Selim and hit him with sharp weapon to confirm his death. He was rushed to sadar hospital where doctors declared him dead. Ataur Rahman Khandaker, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station, said police arrested Mohammad Haris, a councillor of no. 2 ward for his suspected involvement in the killing. A case was filed in this connection, according to a news agency.
