Armed forces, RAB, police to crush anarchy with iron fist: ISPR

Members of the Bangladesh Police have started returning to their respective workstations since Thursday morning, after work abstention of three consecutive days.
They are coming to the workstations without wearing uniform.
Police members left most of the police stations and police check posts across the country on August 5 this year after being attacked by protesters following the flee of Sheikh Hasina.
Police headquarters in a statement said the authenticity of the news that policemen are facing obstacles on their way to work was not found.
So everyone is requested not to get confused by rumours.
During a visit to the Police Bureau of Investigation at Rampura in the city, it was seen that some officials came to the office without wearing uniform.
An official on condition of anonymity said they joined the office following the direction of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and expecting to start duties within a short time.
KN Roy Niyoti, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of DMP Media and Public Relations Division, refused to make any comment on the issue.
Earlier on Wednesday, newly-appointed IGP Md Mainul Islam asked all the police members to join their respective units.
He further said that the police were committed to taking appropriate action by conducting a fair and impartial investigation into each murder.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh's armed forces, RAB, and police in a meeting on Thursday decided to improve the country's stability amid the surging criminal activities for the governance vacuum following the ouster of Sheikh Hasina's government in a student-led movement.
Bangladesh Army Chief of Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman, IGP Md Mainul Islam, Director General of RAB Shahidur Rahman, DMP Commissioner Mainul Hasan, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan and Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan took part in the meeting, according to a press release of the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The statement by the country's armed forces and law enforcement agencies said nationwide anarchy, arson, and destructive activities will be curbed with "iron fist."
The armed forces sought cooperation from all quarters of people in this regard.
During the meeting, they discussed initiating operations in all police stations across the country within the next 24 hours with support of the army, the ISPR statement said.
Sheikh Hasina was ousted amid a student-led mass movement on Monday.
Different police stations and establishments across the country were attacked afterwards.
Vandalism and looting took place at many police stations, leaving them in ruins. Many police personnel suffered injuries and others fled to safety.
The incidents created an unprecedented situation without police service across Bangladesh.
