PABNA, Nov 28: Chatmohar police arrested four leaders of the Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal from the upazila headquarters today on suspicion of creating anarchy in the name of Tuesday's hartal.
The police arrested them from the Chatmohar market area and sent to jail, the police said.
The arrested persons were identified as Montazur Rahman, joint secretary of Chatmohar Upazila unit Juba Dal, Jabed Mollah, Mukul Hossain and Nayeb Ali, president, secretary and organising secretary respectively of ward unit Juba Dal of Bilchalan Union Parishad.
At least 10 BNP activists were arrested by police in Joypurhat ahead of Tuesday's hartal.
Joypurhat police sources said that they arrested 10 persons last night from five upazilas of the district on various charges.
According to the sources, three persons were arrested from Panchbibi, while two from Sadar, one from Kalai, two from Akkelpur and two from Khetlal upazilas.
Lawmaker Engineer Golam Mostafa claimed that the police arrested the BNP activists without any allegations.
"The law enforcers arrested them to ruin Tuesday's hartal", he alleged.
