Police nab main planner of Aug 17 bombings

SATKHIRA, Aug 15 (UNB): The main planner of August 17 simultaneous countrywide bombings was held from frontier Baliadanga village in Kalaroa Upazila Tuesday.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kalaroa police station Fariduddin said on secret information they arrested Nurul Islam alias Nur Ali Member (65) from the house of one Arijul Islam.
Arrested Nur, son of late Abbasuddin of Kulla village in Ashashuni Upazila, confessed to police that he was the chief planner of the bombings at five places in the district on August 17 in 2005.
Police said he also divulged some important information about the JMB activists of the district.
Five separate cases were lodged here in connection with the August 17 bombings.
