Police put on alert countrywide

The authorities put police on alert throughout the country and asked those who are on leave to report to their respective units immediately, apparently in view of the unfolding situation over election. The Police Headquarters issued the orders, as the set last date for filing nomination for the national elections is tomorrow (Nov 20) and a major political camp took an implicit stance of staying away if their demands were not met by a Wednesday-night deadline. --UNB
