Police recover Tk13.3m from car: 2 held

Police arrested two men along with Tk13.3 million (Tk1.33 crore) at Bangabandhu Bridge in Sirajganj district on Tuesday afternoon. The arrested were identified as Babu Islam, 28, son of Rafiqul Islam, a resident of Gazaria upazila of Munsiganj district, and Adbur Razzaq, 28, son of Khalilur Rahman, hailing from Debipur of Rajshahi district. Officer-in-charge of Bangabandhu Bridge West Side Police Station Helal Uddin said a police team gave signal to a Dhaka-bound private car on the wester approach road near the Bangabandhu (Jamuna) bridge. The car climbed the bridge violating the police signal. Police chased the car and at one stage forced it to stop on the bridge. Police then took the vehicle to the police station. Later, they searched the vehicle and recovered the money. A case was filed against the two arrestees as they could not give any satisfactory answer about the money during the interrogation. Police also seized the car, according to a news agency.
