Police rescue two sea turtles from old Dhaka

Police rescued two sea turtles of an endangered species from Tantibazar in old Dhaka Friday. Police also arrested one Mamun, who had brought the turtles for sale, reports bdnews24.com
Selling of such endangered creatures is a criminal offence. Officials of the Department of Environment went to Old Dhaka Friday morning, on a tip-off, and called the Police after they found the turtles on sale.
The turtles were very weak, but steps were taken to release them in the sea. Md Abdus Samad, director of Coastal and Wetland Biodiversity Management Project, said, these sea turtles are known as Olive Ridley .
