Police rifle missing from Magura poll centre

A police rifle has gone missing from a polling station in Magura’s Shalikha Upazila (UZ) before the voting in the second phase of UZ polls started here on Thursday. Three constables have been suspended for the lapse at Shatakhali Union’s Gobra High School voting centre. Assistant Superintendent of Police Sudarshan Kumar Roy said that the policemen deployed for the security spent the night at the school and discovered a ‘Chinese rifle’ has gone missing in the morning. “The matter has been taken seriously. We are trying to recover the rifle. Polls started at the centre on due time,” Magura’s Superintendent of Police Jihadul Kabir said, according to bdnews24.com.
