Police seize Indian saris in Comilla

COMILLA, Sept 28 (UNB): The police arrested a man and seized 1,402 pieces of Indian sari worth Tk 3.5 million from a truck at Uttar Sreepur in Sadar Upazila early Wednesday.
Acting on a tip-off, police waylaid the truck and seized the sari when those were being taken to Dhaka from the border village of Subarnapur in Sadar Upazila of the district at about 3.00am.
The police arrested truck driver Anwar Hossain but the smugglers managed to flee the scene.
The saris were counted in presence of a magistrate and later deposited to the local customs office.
