COMILLA, Aug 8 (UNB): A sub-inspector of Brahmanpara Thana was injured with gun shot fired by an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of the same police station Saturday night in a revenge action.
Police sources said ASI Nezamul Haque flew into a rage after he was relieved of duties and ordered to be closed to the district police lines on charge of being involved in immoral act.
Following directive from Police Super Shafiqul Islam, the punished ASI was asked to report to the police lines and deposit his pistol with the police station.
He declined to do so and locked into alternation with SI Humayun Kabir, who wanted to implement the SP's directive.
"At one stage, he fired one bullet at Kabir from his pistol at about 9:15 pm," says a police account of the shooting.
Hit in the left abdomen, the injured SI was admitted to Comilla Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Nezamul was later arrested and a case was also filed against him.
