Police sue Tangail rape protesters

Police have sued the Tangail ‘rape’ protesters on charges of attacking the law enforcers. Two cases were filed at Kalihati Police Station and Ghatail Police Station against around 900 unidentified people on Saturday night. Ghatail Police Station Sub-Inspector Mansur Ali filed a case against 400-500 unidentified people, OC Mukhlesur Rahman said. At Kalihati, SI Mosharraf Hossain filed the case against 300-400 unnamed people, OC Shahidul Islam said. They also brought charges of obstructing police from discharging their duty and vandalising vehicles. On Friday, police used force to disperse protestors who blocked Tangail-Mymensingh Highway in Kalihati in protest against alleged rape of a woman in front of her son. Three persons died and several others were injured in the incident, according to bdnews24.com.
