Police to be appointed to ensure safety of tourists, JS told

Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina has said her government has taken various measurers including appointment of tourist police to ensure safety and security of local and foreign tourists.
Responding to a question from Treasury Bench member M Shahiduzzaman Sarkar during the PM's Question-Answer session Wednesday, the PM told the House that steps had been taken to take integrated programmes involving all stakeholders for expansion and development of the country's tourism sector, reports BSS.
The PM said steps have also been taken for the development of different tourist spots across the country including Cox's Bazar and Kuakata to attract increased number of tourists.
In this context, the PM said that her government had taken steps to raise public awareness to include the Sundarbans, the world heritage, in the new Seven Natural Wonders by casting votes.
